Mission Possible: Corn

Trailblazers’ annual mission project of contributing to the Bethesda Mission Thanksgiving food baskets is underway! We need every Trailblazer to help collect 300 cans of corn.  Please bring 15.25 oz cans of corn each week between now and Nov 16 to Sunday School or the donation container located in the hallway downstairs.  Be sure to watch as the ear of corn on the bulletin board grows, for every 10 cans of corn collected another kernel will turn yellow!!

Hanging of the Greens—Bring the Family

November 29th is the date for  trimming Aldersgate Church with Christmas greens. Bring the whole family! While parents help decorate, children of all ages can take part in special Christmas activities including a mission project.

Summit Seeker & Adventure Club Pizza Party

This year’s Living Nativity falls on a Summit Seeker and Adventure Club evening. We will be extending the program that night until 5:30 with a pizza party. Parents can pick up their children and find a good spot for the Nativity that begins at 6pm.

Living Nativity Family Event—December 7 at 6:00 p.m.

Bring family and friends for the annual outdoor living nativity.  Experience the Christmas story with live actors and animals.  Enjoy cookies and hot cocoa afterward.  If your child participates in Adventure Club/Summit Seekers that afternoon, they can stay for dinner prior to the event.

It’s Beginning to Sound a Lot Like Christmas!

A preview of the Christmas Musical will be heard during the 9:30 Worship Service on December 14th. The Cherub (preschoolers and kindergarteners) and Adventurers in Praise (1st –3rd graders) Sunday school choirs will present a song from the Musical.  Adventurers in Praise meet in the FLC and Cherubs in the Chapel at 9:20 that morning.

Christmas Eve Childcare Available

The nursery will be open for infants through preschoolers on Christmas Eve during the 4pm, 5:30pm and 7pm Worship Services.

 Christmas Musical

Would you like to be a part of this year’s Christmas Musical? Open to all children in First - Fifth Grade.

Rehearsals will then continue every Wednesday from 6:30-8:00 during What's Up Wednesday.

CD's are available in the area outside the Family Life Center at a donation request of $8.00.

This year the Cherubs (4 and 5 year olds and Kindergarteners) will act out the nativity - complete with shepherds, wise men, animals and angels in the Christmas Musical. They will also brighten the musical with their sweet voices. All children who attend Sunday School will learn the music.  If your child wishes to participate in the Christmas Musical during the 5:30pm Christmas Eve Service, please add their name to the sign-up sheet located on the Christmas Musical Bulletin Board in the main hallway. The children and their parents will need to attend a rehearsal from 9-11am on Saturday, December 20th.  Parents are needed to lend a hand for the Musical, please contact Lisa Underdonk at 730-0569 let her know that you can help.  Areas of help include counting costumes, repair (if needed) and fitting children for their costumes on December 20th and 24th.

Working with the children this year are Kara Horm and Stacey Thomas for the drama and Kristi Prowell and Kim LeGore with music.

Interested in being an Acolyte?

The acolytes are those individuals who symbolically bring in and take out the “Light of Christ” during our worship services. Children interested must be at least 7 years old, but this ministry need not only be provided by children.

The new acolyte schedule will be completed by November.  New acolytes will be added that that time. Also, if there is anyone who wants to be removed from the list, we need to know that too. Please email or call the church office with that information.
